Each Sunday, during our morning and evening services, we provide Children's Ministry for infants through 6th grade. Below is a brief description of the various ministries we offer for your children.
Nursery (Infant – Age 2)
During each regular service we provide well-baby nursery care for infants, toddlers and 2 year-olds. Our servants are trained in nursery care and ready to assist you & your children. The infant and toddler rooms are located in the North-East corner of the Main Sanctuary building. The 2 year old class is located in room 203 in the Children's Education wing.
When you sign in your child, you will be assigned a pager that will vibrate if our staff needs you during the service. The pager also serves as a means of identification as we require the pager to be returned before we release a child.
For nursing moms, we provide a room for you near the nursery with a special window and audio for you to enjoy the service in progress, while having the privacy you need.
Pre-School Age Children's Church (3 Years Old through Kindergarten)
During each Sunday service we provide classes for pre-school children (ages 3, 4, and 5/kindergarten). The pre-school classrooms are all located on the first floor in the Children's Education wing. Each parent "signs-in" their children at the appropriate class prior to the service, and then checks them out after the service in the same classroom. For safety purposes, we will only release children to the person indicated on the sign-in sheet to be the one to "sign-out" the child.
The curriculum we use for our pre-schoolers is produced by Karyn Henley, the author of the Beginner's Bible. We concentrate on a different theme each month and have Bible lessons, crafts, games, music and activities each week based on that theme.
During each service we bring the pre-schoolers into the Children's Auditorium for approximately 25 minutes to enjoy a special and exciting time of worship and puppets to reinforce the day's theme. After the worship time, the children return to their classes for the remainder of their class session.
Elementary Age Children's Church (First through Sixth Grade)
During each Sunday service we provide individual classes for our elementary age children (first – sixth grade). These classrooms are all located on the second floor in the Children's Education wing. Each parent "signs-in" their children at the appropriate class prior to the service, and then checks them out after the service in the same classroom. For safety purposes we will only release children to the person indicated on the sign-in sheet to be the one to "sign-out" the child.
The curriculum we use at this age level is a "through the Bible" curriculum developed by our own fellowship. We study the New Testament from beginning to end on Sunday mornings and repeat every 3 years. We study the Old Testament on Sunday evenings and repeat every 4 years. Along with the teaching are games and crafts designed to reinforce the theme of the teaching session. If a child consistently attends Sunday morning and evening services they will have studied through the New Testament twice and through the Old Testament almost twice.

Family Devotions
We also provide devotions for parents who would like to reinforce Sunday's teaching throughout the week at home. They are tied to Sunday morning's lesson and are 5 short devotions with application questions for the children. These are a great tool for parents to continue to work on with their children at home. Just pick up your copy in your child's classroom. There is no cost for the devotions.
Children's Worship and Puppet Ministries
Our Children's Worship and Puppet Teams are dedicated to provide our children with the best possible worship experience. We understand that one of the best ways we can communicate the Gospel to children is through creative means, like music and puppetry. Each week the children are led in a time of worship and sometimes enjoy an original puppet skit based on the lesson for the day.
Special Note to Parents
To insure the safety of our children, everyone currently serving in Children's Ministry at Calvary Chapel Modesto must meet the following requirements:
• Attend Calvary Chapel Modesto for at least six months.
• Have an active Children's Ministry questionnaire on file.
• Completed fingerprints and background check.
• Submitted four character reference letters.
• Have a signed policy and procedure document on file.
