“it is to his glory to overlook a transgression.”

God alone can give us correct perspective when we are confronted with forgiving those who have sinned against us on purpose.  Forgiving someone doesn’t mean that we ignore the sins of others towards us or pretend they never sinned against us; forgiving is to look past (overlook) the sin until we are “looking” only at God.  While we “look to Him,” He can give us correct perspective as we process with Him the sins committed against us and how He wants us to respond.

As we see from the example Pastor Mark shares today, love motivates and compels us to forgive others.  God’s love is the one thing we never will be separated from and because of that, as we abide in Him, we are always able to forgive.
