2 Corinthians 4:17-18

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Our Good Shepherd – Paul Lester

“Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.”
Psalm 37:25

David had learned from personal experience that in every walk and circumstance of life, God takes care of His own.  From the shepherd fields of Bethlehem to the battle fields of the Philistines; from a cave in En Gedi to the cedar paneled halls of his palace in Jerusalem; in bright seasons when God’s face shone upon Israel and during dark days when pestilence walked the land; in every place and in every way, David had found that his Good Shepherd was faithful to prepare a table from which he could eat.

So too, dear saints, can we be confident that our Good Shepherd will provide a table for us, His people, during these uncertain times.  God’s pantries are never bare and His power to provide for us is never limited by supply chains or grocery store chains.  Be confident then that the God we serve is the same One of whom David boasted…

“Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.”

COVID-19 Crisis Prayer – Pastor Mike

Today’s Prayer

Psalm 67

Today’s Subject: An End to the Virus

God’s Way: Lord God, Your way is to call upon You. And so we do.  We ask you to end this virus. We ask you that you would stop it in its tracks even now.  We ask you that not one more person would be infected or die from this virus. We look to you alone. We ask you that the leaders of our nation would operate in Your wisdom and not their own understanding to bring an end to the crisis. That the prince of the power of the air would no longer be allowed to wreak his destruction and havoc in our nation. We call to You. We are in trouble and ask You to rescue us. We cannot rescue ourselves.  We need Your help, for the help of man is futile. We ask that You would open our ears to show us what You would have us do. We ask You for Your mercy.  We acknowledge that as a nation we have turned from You and not listened to Your Word. We ask that in accordance with Your mercy and righteousness that this calamity would turn away from us. Please incline Your ear to us for we do not come to Your on our own merit, but because of Your great compassion through Jesus Christ our Lord. We ask you to take action and do not delay!

God’s Salvation:  We ask that the hearts in our nation would turn to You in humility to ask You for Your mercy and come to a saving knowledge of You through Jesus.  That those in Modesto, Stanislaus county, California and our nation would bend their knee to the risen Lord Jesus Christ as they are faced with their uncertain future. We ask that people would begin to read their Bibles, the Word of God, with great fervor. That You would reveal Yourself to them and that they would behold Your glory in Your Word and transform as You alone can.  That when this crisis does end that You alone would receive glory and honor and recognition for stopping it.  That you would open the eyes of the people in this nation to Your glory and saving power.  That people would come to see their finite ability and turn to You.

God’s Praise:  Oh God our Father, it is You and You alone who stills the roaring of seas and waves and You alone who stills the tumult of the peoples.  Thank you that You have chosen us to bring us near unto You that we can call upon you in this time.  Thank you and praise You that we are not alone and that we are not without recourse in this crisis, for we have access to You: Creator and Sustainer of all things.  To You belongs all might and wisdom and power and You can stop ANYTHING with just a word from Your mouth.  Thank you for Jesus, Your Son, the Living God, through whom You call us Your sons and daughters and through whom You indwell us.  Thank you that through Him You uphold ALL things by the Word of Your power.  You are awesome and mighty.  We praise You that there is nothing too difficult for You and yet, in Your greatness You condescend to us and hear us when we cry out to You. We praise You that You are the sovereign God who rules over the world and entire universe with constant, intimate, personal care and can stop this virus and the chaos of the nations at any time and will do so in Your benevolence and wisdom. We praise you that You are from everlasting to everlasting. We praise you that we can cast ourselves upon You and avail ourselves of Your mercy with complete confidence, assurance and peace through Jesus Christ our Lord.

“God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, that Your Way may be known on earth, Your Salvation among the nations.  Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You” Psalm 67: 1-3
