Tim and I teamed up together and were assigned to the BGEA RRT Table with Samaritan’s Purse at the LAC (Local Assistance Center) in Chico. The BGEA RRT Chaplains were responding to the Chico-Paradise Fire Disaster. A women came up to the table … started to cry and walked away very quickly. The same women walked up to the table a 2nd time … .and cried and then again walked away very quickly. The women again … for the 3rd time walked up … and before she could leave … the Lord prompted me to ask …. “what would you like the Lord Jesus to do for you?” Her response was vivid and astonishing. “I know that God will never …. ever …. forgive me. I am a murderer.” Tim was talking to another homeowner. I asked her … “What did you do to think you did that God would not forgive you?? If God did not forgive you … why are you here? …. talk to me….. what’s on your heart?” Her story ….. “I hate the church …. nothing but a bunch of hypocrites … they think that they know everything … but … they know nothing. Because of them … I ended up Divorced. I couldn’t control myself …. I went out and had a lot of men the last few years. I’ve had a lot of abortions. I even had twins and such …. all of them I’ve aborted and after each abortion ……. (she started to weep uncontrollably …. I then went to the other side of the table and ask if I could put my arms around her shoulder …. she said yes …. then she continued her story …..) ……. I ………… offered ………. each ………. of ……. them …….. to ………. Satan ………. I hate the church and they hate me. The Lord then placed upon my heart …… The fact that you are not dead and that you are here means that the Lord loves you. PERIOD. She responded with “wait … are you serious?? …… you can’t be serious.” I responded with YES HE LOVES YOU!!!!! People burned you and that I can not deny but ….. it is NOT God that burned you ….. in fact … God got burned by the world…. and then they … we …. CRUCIFIED the Lord 2,000 some odd years ago. But … beautifully, 3 days later, the Lord Jesus rose from the dead for all of us … including you my dear. Her response:. How’s that possible??”. I’m glad you asked. May I show you the real “Steps to Peace With God?” ….. YES… please do. After about 15 minutes …. this former sinner ….. Confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. She left with a “hop and a skip” to her steps.
